Event: Reuse à la Polonaise: copyright law and practice for the reuse of digitised cultural heritage
We digitised it, we published it, job’s done! ...But is it? Join us for a one-day event organized on the occasion of Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union programme!
The event is organized as part of the project of Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission (DG Connect) – “Raising Awareness of Copyright in Cultural Heritage, Education, and Research Institutions”.
The goal of the project is to improve overall understanding of copyright regulations by promoting knowledge of the EU copyright legal framework and its practical application — especially in cultural heritage institutions, research organizations, and educational establishments.
Launched in January, the project will host 10 events across 10 EU countries. The first one was held in Latvia, and the second is scheduled to take place in Poland.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Centrum Cyfrowe.

Digitisation is just the beginning of the journey. The true value of our common, digital resources is revealed when we can use them freely and legally – in research, in education, in artistic creation. When they get woven into the living tissue of contemporary culture.
Open and fair access to heritage is the foundation of a modern society. On the occasion of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, we invite you to a unique, all-day meeting dedicated to copyright and the practical aspects of reusing digital collections.
This event is for you if you work with digital heritage on a daily basis as a specialist in a cultural institution, archive, library, or museum; and if you wonder how to apply Polish and EU regulations in practice to make collections available ethically, responsibly, and as widely as possible.
Our event will combine theory with practice to give you concrete tools and knowledge that you can use in your work.
We want to create a space for an open exchange of thoughts, asking difficult questions, and jointly seeking solutions. Our goal is for every participant to leave with greater self-confidence, practical knowledge, and a sense that the reuse of heritage is not only important, but also possible.
