How can research results, often publicly funded, become more widely available? How to ensure that creators retain influence over their works while sharing them with the world? These are key questions for the future of open science and equal access to knowledge.

Together with the University of Opole and University of Opole’s Library  we will be hosing a discussion about:

  • Secondary Publishing Rights – which refer to the right (and obligation) to republish publicly funded research in an internet-searchable open access repository or elsewhere, simultaneously with its publication in scientific journals, with guarantees regarding the possibility of further use of scientific works.
  • Rights Retention – guaranteeing that authors retain at least sufficient rights to share research results for immediate open access and reuse, regardless of where they were originally published. In the case of research financed by taxpayers, this also ensures that the original purpose of using public funds is fulfilled.

Don’t miss the KnowledgeRights21’s Position on Secondary Publishing Rights Legislation in Europe (also available in Polish) and Position on Authors’ Rights Retention (also available in Polish).
