CRE-AI-TIVE: a Study on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the Creative Industries

Artificial intelligence (AI) holds enormous transformative potential for the creative sector. The CRE-AI-TIVE study will investigate how new AI-driven tools and applications are revolutionizing the design, fashion, music, architecture, and video game industries, and how creators approach the use of AI in their work. The study is carried out as part of the "Development of Creative Sectors" programme by Centrum Rozwoju Przemysłów Kreatywnych (Centre for the Development of Creative Industries).

As part of the CRE-AI-TIVE study, we will examine how AI is used in the researched sectors: whether and how it supports their development, which tools are used by specialists in these fields, and why they do (or do not) use tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, Gemini, and many others. Our research will include a detailed analysis of the situation in the Polish market, supplemented by a broader European perspective.

The project final result will include a comprehensive report, which will feature a map of competencies, tools, and technological solutions used in the Polish creative industries. The findings will provide a new perspective on the reception and real application of dynamically developing technologies, taking into account the specifics of this unique sector. This knowledge will support the development of innovation among Polish creators and entrepreneurs, which will in turn strengthen their competitiveness on the global market.

Within CRE-AI-TIVE, we also want to create a space for open, data-driven dialogue about the challenges and benefits arising from AI tools – we believe that a responsible discussion around the ethics and use of new technologies is the foundation of a strong economy based on knowledge and respect for the work of creative professionals.

The project includes research and educational activities:

  • Research: Desk research analysis, a survey study, and in-depth interviews with experts and practitioners from Poland and abroad.
  • Workshops: The project involves practical workshops for representatives of the researched creative industries, focusing on exploring and developing AI competencies, analysing case studies, and legal-ethical issues. The training sessions will take place in Warsaw and Łódź.
  • Report: The research results, including the map of competencies, tools, and solutions will be published in a comprehensive report in Polish and English, in open access.
  • Conference: The report premiere will take place at an event summarizing the project. It will also be a space for a panel discussion with experts and individuals associated with the creative sector.

Accessibility:

The research report in Polish and English language versions will be made available online in a format accessible by screen readers.

The conference will take place in an architecturally accessible venue, with interpretation into Polish Sign Language, and will be streamed online.

The report, workshops, and conference will be free of charge.
